The guys at Common Craft are fantastic at taking complex topics and making them understandable. In 2007 they decided to tackle Zombies and what they came up with is an easy to follow guide to identifying, escaping from and potentially killing a Zombie.
While most of this guide is good, I have a few points of contention. The first is that hiding out in a Costco is probably a really bad idea, for the same reason we said hiding out in a Mall was. While there is a lot of food, there are also a lot of exits, entrances and hiddy-holes for Zombies to sneak into. Not only that but it’s too big to properly fortify unless you have a pretty large group of talented survivors.
Also, while there is nothing quite as fun as decapitating a Zombie with a chainsaw, I would say that is the least effective method for your average survivor. Not only are chainsaws heavy and cumbersome, but you are just as likely to slice off your own arm as you are a Zombies. Even more importantly, all the gore and offal that you will kick up might splash into an open wound and infect you.
Here at 93 Studios we strongly prefer the use of ranged weapons when fighting for your life.
