Michael Jackson’s Thriller is quite possibly the most recognizable homage to the Zombie in pop culture history, sorry George. This 14 minute mini-film was the most expensive music video every made up until that point, costing upwards of $500,000. It has also gone down in history as the most successful music video, selling over 9 million units.
As a kicker, this video also features an iconic ending speech from horror movie legend Vincent Price. It won an Grammy Award in 1985 and several MTV Music Awards.
There is a very, very important lesson here for anyone who is preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse, if you’re on a date and you drive past a graveyard, don’t stop. Seriously, I don’t care how clever you think you are, don’t ever stop.
Note – The video above is a reenactment of Thriller by inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention Facility in the Philippines, Michael Jackson’s version has embedding disabled. You can still see it here.
