77. Read a Screenplay

Our final stop in the “get out there and read” cycle will be screenplays. Screenplays distinguish themselves in a number of ways, one of them is that they are strongly character driven. To really appreciate the difference between a screenplay and the movie or play it eventually becomes, it’s important to sit down with one and take some time to deconstruct it. See how the dialogue is structured and how the writer manages to use hooks and create tension given the format’s constraints.
