We’re taking another look at storytelling games, this time we’ll move away from MMOs and focus our sights on Interactive Fiction. This is a broad category of games, ranging from text-based adventures told through an interpreter to fully realized worlds. Emily Short has put together a woefully incomplete, but still extraordinarily useful list of Interactive Stories [2] to test out. Take a look at the article itself, but be sure to keep at the comments, there are a lot of great suggestions to be found.

My suggestions? Portal [3] is one of my favorite “experimental” computer games in a long time, if you get the opportunity, play it. Next, try your hand at Oligarchy [4], which sells its narrative quite cleverly.
