Welcome to Williamsburg, Brooklyn – a once run-down neighborhood now transformed into the hippest corner of New York City. Known as a hub for art, indie rock, and alternative fashion, the ‘burg is the world capital of the ‘hipster’ movement – the young-and-oh-so-chic set who decide what is cool and not cool for an entire generation.
Only in the Burg can a CEO’s son cry out against capitalism, while living off his parents’ trust fund.
Only in the Burg can an actress nail a callback with an ironic credit card company slogan.
Only in the Burg can you pioneer a hip new neighborhood two blocks away from the old one.
Only in the Burg can a suburban kid strive to be a sitar player on the L train.
And only in the Burg can an unknown writer and director have the audacity to produce an indie sitcom about their ridiculous lives, and then see it become an internet hit.
In late 2005, we decided to do an internet sitcom about Williamsburg.
In early 2006, we wrote, cast and shot a few episodes. We were told we were mad to attempt an episodic series longer than three minutes on the internet. In June 2006 we debuted, and within one week had been mentioned in national blogs and press including the New York Times.
Since then we’ve posted one season and are soon beginning the second.
