Bottom Line: A simple, fun story by the team at Reckless Tortuga (who brought us Psycho Girlfriend) about a group of stereotypical college characters hanging out in a basement with a spirit that is just looking for a little love. Heavy on the slapstrick, The Basement nonetheless gives you a quirky new take college horror spoof motif.

Style 3.5
Well shot and well paced throughout, you get the feeling that this is meant to be watched in one take. Even though they do a good job of recapping every episode, it would have been pretty distracting to watch these piecemeal. (Pacing 4)
Storytelling 3.5
Since they are traveling down a well worn path with the story, they took the extra time they had to add a lot of great flourishes to the shoot. The edits are fantastic and the music plays really well with the overall composition of the episodes. All in all it is a really well crafted series. (Polish 4.5)
Watchability 4
They don’t cover too much new ground here, it almost feels like a spoof on bad college horror spoofs. (Novelty 3)
