“It’s amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper.” –Jerry Seinfeld

USA Today [2], founded by Allen Neuharth, distinguished itself in 1982 by becoming the nation’s first, true national newspaper. Compared to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, USA Today used a brightly colored front page as well as charts and diagrams to deliver its brand of the news. After early criticism (many thought that a national newspaper would dilute the way news was reported), USA Today caught on and today it is distributed to over 2 Million people nationwide.

Since we are taking a little tour through different types of newspapers, I want you to crack open USA Today’s website or pick up at copy at your local new-stand.

Report to the next segment when you’re done, and we’ll take the last stop on this tour.
